Tan Guidelines
Before your appointment
Shave and gently exfoliate the body thoroughly. Be sure to scrub hands, feet, ankles, elbows and knees well. For best and most consistent results, we recommend doing this 12 hours before your appointment. Showering too close to your appointment time can affect the pH level of your skin and how your pores absorb the tan.
If you use an exfoliating scrub, be sure to do this 12 hours before your appointment as excess oils may remain on your skin.
No lotions or oils the day of your appointment.
Wash off make-up and deodorant before the tan to guarantee the best application.
Most clients are sprayed nude, however feel free to dress/undress to your comfort level during the tan. If any clothes are worn, dark garments are recommended. Any spray that is left on clothes, will generally wash right out.
After your appointment
Wear dark loose comfortable clothing until you wash off the top layer.
Don’t get wet or sweat for 8 hours.
When you do shower, wash with body wash (not bar soap!) and apply with hands not wash cloth for longest lasting results. Pat dry.
Hydrating and moisturizing will also extend the life of your tan. Paraben-free products when washing and moisturizing are best.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does the tan last?
On average, our professional application will last 5-7 days. The longevity of a sunless tan depends on both the skin’s natural exfoliation process and the skincare regimen followed before and after application. It is important to keep skin moisturized after sunless tanning as dry, flaky skin will slough off faster and color will fade sooner. Your goal is to basically slow down your body’s natural exfoliation process. Hydrating by drinking plenty of water will also aid in extending the life of your tan.
Will I look orange?
Absolutely not! We carry a purple-based solution that blocks elements resulting in the undesirable orange tone that is sometimes associated with spray tans. Further, our solutions are technologically enhanced to react specifically to your skin giving you the perfect color custom to you. You will be left with all over natural looking honey-kissed skin!
How long should I wait to get in the pool, ocean, or go to the spa?
We recommend avoiding these environments for the first 48 hours following your spray tan. Chlorinated pools & spas can increase the rate in which the skin exfoliates causing the tan to wear and fade rapidly.
Will the solution stain my clothes?
Some of the bronze color may rub off on clothing or bed sheets. This is most likely to happen when you get dressed immediately after tanning. All cosmetic bronzers used with our products are water-soluble. In most cases, the color will come out of clothing in the wash.
To minimize the chance of the bronzers transferring to clothing, we recommend you wear loose-fitting, darker clothes after your spray session. Try to refrain from any activity that could result in you sweating until you shower and wash off the cosmetic bronzers.
Does the tan have an odor?
Our sunless solutions use advanced DHA odor encapsulation, the newest technology in odor inhibitors, to ‘trap’ odor causing molecules commonly associated with DHA products and virtually eliminate sunless odor.
Will a sunless tan protect me from UV rays?
No. It is common to get a false sense of security when you have been spray tanned. Your skin will still burn when overexposed.
It is still necessary to apply SPF lotions or sprays when in the sun. Our solutions do NOT contain any SPF.
What is an express tan?
The process for an Express Tan is the same as a standard tan but develops in 2-4 hours based on how dark you want to be. You can shower in 2 hours for a light glow, 3 hours for medium color, and 4 hours for dark. This is a great solution for a tan on the day of an event.
Is a spray tan safe for an expectant mother?
While there are no known harmful side effects of our solutions on an expectant mother, as with any new product you may choose to use during your pregnancy, we recommend consulting with your physician prior to being spray-tanned.
